Top eight teams are already in Super 12 – Australia, England, South Africa and West Indies comprising Group 1, while Afghanistan, India, New Zealand and Pakistan were slotted into Group 2.

The T20 World Cup will kick off with Round One matches in Oman from October 17, where eight teams will battle it out to reach the Super 12 stage.

Group A consists of Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia, while Group B is made up of Bangladesh, Oman, Papua New Guinea and Scotland. Top two from each group will qualify for Super 12s.

Each win in the round one stage will fetch USD 40,000 while the four teams that fail to progress to the next stage will receive USD 40,000 each.

Regarding the tournament playing conditions, the ICC has also introduced official drink breaks in every innings. The matches will have two and a half minute break at the 10-over mark in each innings. The weather conditions in the United Arab Emirates could be the main reason behind this move, as the temperatures in the Middle East are usually high.

The T20 World Cup is all set to kick off on October 17, with the co-hosts Oman taking on Papua New Guinea at Al Amerat.

The Super 12 stage will begin from October 23, with Australia and South Africa going head to head. The mega event will conclude with the final taking place in Dubai on November 14.
