New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series in convincing fashion with a 3-0 scoreline. Although the Kiwis were terrific during the series, veteran batsman Ross Taylor urged his team-mates not to get complacent and keep great focus on the World Cup Super League.

They started their World Cup Super League campaign on the right note with the series victory against Bangladesh. Although Taylor was not a part of the team for the first two ODIs due to a hamstring injury, he featured in the third ODI, but did not do much to the scoreboard getting out early.

It is nice to have wrapped up the series, but there are World Cup points on offer. There’s no dead rubber, it has a bit of context,

    Taylor said.

I don’t feel I have anything to prove at this part of my career. I have done well in the past in one-day cricket. I have been consistent. It is not an opportunity to show where I am, T20-wise. Sum up the situation and bat accordingly whether it is Test, ODIs or T20s. It won’t change.

Additionally, the 37-year-old revealed that he was close to playing the previous game:

I was pretty close to playing the last game. If it was a Test or a World Cup semifinal, I would have played. But I decided against it, give it a couple of days. It feels good. It has been a strange old year. I haven’t played any one-day cricket. So looking forward to playing the format I enjoying playing.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League is a One Day International League, which is taking place from July 2020 to March 2023. It serves as part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process. Each team gets +10 for a win, +5 for no result/tie/abandoned match, and zero for a loss. New Zealand are currently second on the table, only behind Australia.
