Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, whose contract expires in June 202, has been offered to Real Madrid by his agent, reports El Nacinonal. Los Blancos have been linked with the Frenchman in the past, especially when Zinedine Zidane was in charge.
As per the report, Mino Raiola is attempting to convince his client to join Real next summer over rivals Barcelona – who are under several financial distress at present.
Pogba, born in the eastern suburbs of Paris, has been sought by Paris Saint–Germain previously. The Parisiens signed four mega-stars on free transfers this summer, including Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos.
However, reports last month claimed that Pogba could instead renew his contract at Manchester United. The Athletic claimed that the club’s recent performances, both on the pitch and in the transfer market, had turned the player’s head around, and he was considering putting pen to paper to a new contract.
Speaking to the media in August, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that he wasn’t worried about Pogba’s contractual situation, and any effect that that may have on his game.
“I’m not worried whatsoever that the length of any player’s contract is changing the level of their motivation and inspiration. You want to play well for your team, your teammates, yourself, your family, every time you play,”
he had said.
Pogba started the 2021/22 season brightly for his club, supplying seven assists in the first four league games of the season. While his form has tailed off of late, he remains an important member of Solskjaer’s squad.
