A financial crisis is largely the reason why Barcelona found themselves in a horrible situation, but the cutting out they had to because of the wage bill limit, apparently, wasn’t enough. The Goal report that the Catalans are still 300 million euros beyond the LaLiga salary limit.
In August, Barca had to let go of their talisman Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, alongside some other exits that helped them save 200 million per annum.
This now means that Barcelona will have to unregister some of their players or lower the wages of those who are a part of the club. This will be a concern for the club, who are currently bottom of their Champions League group.
La Liga have drawn a roof over the wages a club can pay in the Spanish top division, which means they cannot spend more than 98 million euros on player wages. However, Barcelona currently are paying 382 million Euros to their players and that is critically over the mark that has been set.
As it stands, the club will not face any immediate repercussions, as long as they promise the authorities they will be working to lower their wage bill. The Spanish League authorities are willing to provide some time for the club as the current valuation and expected valuation are too far away to be met immediately.
Sergi Roberto, Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti’s contracts are currently under negotiation, and the club are trying to convince them to take pay cuts.

Barca are yet to provide a debut for summer signing Sergio Aguero, who joined the club on a free transfer from Manchester City. They are reportedly looking for a new manager, with Ronald Koeman’s stint at the club almost nearing an end.
Former Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo and Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez have been pipped to take over, with a rumour surrounding Roberto Martinez and Thomas Tuchel as well.
