Manchester United manager has played down Donny Van De Beek’s reaction on the sidelines against Villarreal (2-1). The midfielder was visibly upset at being denied game time and is attracting interest from other top European sides.

Van De Beek’s situation at the club remains a sticking point during an otherwise successful period for United. The Dutchman – who joined the club last summer for 39 million euros – has found playing time hard to come by. His frustrations boiled over on Wednesday night, and he was caught by the cameras in a rare display of exasperation by the sidelines.

“Donny was ready to come on, as all players should be,”

“I have been a sub more than anyone in this club probably, I must have the record, and you have to be ready all the time. I have been not very happy a few times, but that is just a decision the manager makes.

“Donny has never ever affected his team negatively, just so that is said, but as soon as I see players affecting the team negatively that is a different scenario.”

    Solskjaer said.

Van De Beek has started just twice for United this season – both in cup competitions. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old has only managed to make a five-minute cameo in the league this season. As a result, the Dutchman has attracted interest from elsewhere in the past – and continues to do so.

As per Fichajes, he is being tracked by AC Milan, with a view towards a transfer in January 2022. The Dutchman is keen to cut short his Old Trafford stay over the lack of game time, while Milan believe him to fit the profile of a player they currently seek.

Manchester United denied Van De Beek a move away from the club in the summer when it was reported that the midfielder was the subject of interest from Premier League side Everton.
