Having remained a free agent for over one year, ex-France international finally announced his retirement during an interview with French publication “Le Journal du Dimanche”.

Having made his mark at Marseille, Nasri joined Arsenal for 16 million euros and donned the red-and-white for three seasons. Despite failing to win any major trophies with the Gunners, the winger who was capable of playing in attacking midfield and central midfield positions, caught the attention of Manchester City.

Nasri’s career started going uphill after his move to City in 2011, and he played a crucial role in Roberto Mancini’s Premier League win of 2011/12, scoring five and assisting nine goals for the club. His imperious vision, pace and ball control made him one of the most attracting football talents in Premier League football.

However, his good time started to fade soon under Pep Guardiola, as the Spaniard never saw him in his future plans. In the Spaniard’s debut season at Etihand, he was loaned out to Sevilla and was later sold to Turkish side Antalyaspor.

He was banned in 2018 for six months for using unprohibited substances. The ban was extended by another 12 months after he was found guilty, and after that term was completed, he returned to the Premier League.

West Ham acquired his services as their manager at that point, Manuel Pellegrini, always was an admirer of the Frenchman. A couple of injuries ensured he lasted just one season with the Hammers before moving to Anderlecht, where he was released in 2020.

Nasri played 522 professional games in his career, registering 93 assists and scoring 73 times. He was a league champion on two occasions with Manchester City, besides adding a Football League Cup medal in 2013/14 and Community Shield in 2012. He was also named the player of the year in France in 2010 when he had a stellar season with Arsenal.

He received 41 national caps and featured in the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship.
