England’s Ben Stokes isn’t too fused about Virat Kohli’s on-field behaviour. He said that it might work for the Indian skipper, but that’s not how the England team operates.

Over the years, there has constantly been chatter around Virat Kohli and his on-field behaviour. There have been questions on whether the Indian skipper goes a touch overboard in celebrating wickets and showing aggression on the field.

The premier England all-rounder isn’t too concerned about Kohli’s style of play or his in-the-face attitude. Stokes admitted that it isn’t a way that works for the England side.

Every team and every player has a certain way of operating in the field, which makes them successful. As a team over the last four-five years, that’s not the way that works for us. We stick to what we do best and what we make is to build a better side.

Each team is entitled to their own way of operations. India have there and we have ours,

Ben Stokes was quoted saying in the pre-match press conference ahead of the second ODI in Pune when he was quizzed about Kohli’s style of play.

In the follow-up question in which Stokes was asked which version of Virat Kohli does he prefer, the Durham all-rounder cheekily answered,

Personally, I prefer Virat doesn’t get runs, because that’s not good for us.

Kohli has been in fine form against England on the white-ball leg of this tour. He smashed three half-centuries in the T20I series and won the player of the series award.

He has started with a half-century as well in the first ODI. Meanwhile, Stokes hasn’t really found his mojo with the bat on this tour. He has bowled well though and even picked up three wickets in the first ODI.
