The BCCI and ECB have been in dialogue ever since the abrupt finish to one of the great Test series ever played between the sides. The fifth Test in Manchester was suspended, and it was mentioned that India weren’t forfeiting the Test.

It is currently understood that a space has been found in that limited overs tour of England, where the last Test of this series was played. According to ESPNcricinfo, both BBCI and ECB have agreed on completing the series in August 2022.

This game is expected to cover up majority of the losses the English board incurred, with India deciding to opt-out of the last Test under a fortnight ago.

Having very nearly won the first Test, India won at the Lord’s and the Oval in dramatic circumstances whilst the hosts had a comprehensive win at Headingley. India’s wins at the Lord’s and Oval have been touted as part of an exclusive catalogue of Indian wins, one that includes India’s greatest performances across all formats.

This iconic bilateral match failed to have a proper finish after head coach Ravi Shastri had contracted the virus, also moving his entire support staff into quarantine. Although the players had tested negative on the morning of the fifth Test in Manchester, the fifth Test had to be aborted.

India’s decision to exit the country without completing the series didn’t go down well with a lot of the English media and pundits, who felt Test cricket came second when they had to choose between it and the IPL.

Cricket Australia has also sent a proposal to The ECB detailing their plans for England during the Ashes. The details at this stage are unclear, but it is understood that the plans, including details of quarantine arrangements and the requirements for bubbles throughout the tour, are better than had been feared.

England will travel to Australia for the Ashes immediately after the T20 World Cup, which finishes on November 14. They will begin their hunt to regain the urn at the Gabba.
