Erling Haaland stayed at Borussia last summer despite interest from the Manchester clubs, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Speaking about the situation, BVB CEO said that retaining the services of the striker will be “difficult” but “not impossible”.

“Of course it will be difficult. I am not saying, however, that it is completely out of the question. We’ll do everything we can to keep our top players loyal to us in the future.”

    Hans-Joachim Watzke said, Goal reports.

Reports claim that the 21-year-old is rather unlikely to leave the Signa Iduna Park next summer, but Dortmund can count on their history of replacing one top striker with another.

In 2014, Robert Lewandowski left Dortmund for Bayern Munich to become one of the best strikers in the world. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was also a part of Dortmund before he moved on to Arsenal back in 2018.

Haaland now has 68 goals from 67 appearances for Borussia. The Norwegian’s current deal has a release clause worth 77 million pounds which only becomes active next summer.
