On September 20, Royal Challengers Bangalore players will not be only seen only in their famous red strip. Ahead of the start of the UEA leg of the Indian Premier League, they have decided to pay respects to the hard-working frontline COVID-19 workers by wearing a light-blue jersey.

The colour of the jersey is similar to the one used in the PPE kits, which the frontline warriors wear. The Challengers will resume their campaign on September 20 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed stadium.

This will be the exact match where the Virat Kohli-led side will don the blue jersey. As it will only be the second match after the four-month break, viewership will be high, and the message will be sent to more people.

RCB is currently in third place in the standings. They have won 5 of their seven matches. Before the IPL was temporarily suspended in May, they were likely to finish the season in the top 4. However, with their negative net-run rate, they will have to be wary of the teams below them as the momentum can shift soon.

The aforementioned new signings made by RCB will have a part to play if the franchise is to lift their first-ever IPL title. Kohli shared his thoughts on working with these new overseas stars.

“The replacement players have great skill sets, especially in these conditions. Excited to see them with the whole group and to resume a very good season that we started last time around,”

he said in a video posted on RCB’s Twitter handle.
