Before Monday’s game against Ireland in Belfast, Zimbabwean batting great took on Twitter to confirm that it will be his last international fixture after a 17-year-long career at the highest level.

Taylor began his ODI career after the highly controversial players’ fall-out that saw many of Zimbabwe’s veteran cricketers leave the national side in 2004.

Playing for a team on an unarrested decline, he still piled on an impressive record to his name. He played 34 Tests with 2,320 runs at an average of 36.25 and six hundreds as well as twelve fifties to his name.

In the ODIs, he featured in 205 matches with 6,684 runs at an average of 35.55 and a strike-rate of 76.64. Taylor also represented his country in 45 T20Is with 934 runs at a strike-rate of 118.22.

Taylor played some of the most memorable innings produced by a Zimbabwean batsman. Indian fans will remember him for his great hundred against India in the 2015 World Cup encounter in Auckland.
