Kate Cross and Lauren Winfield-Hill have also been recalled to the ODI fray. 20-year-old Charlie Dean is set to make her debut against the Kiwis.

England all-rounder Danni Wyatt returned to the ODI squad after being overlooked during the ODI series against India in July that saw her score an unbeaten 89 in the final T20I match. Due to her outstanding performance against India, she had booked her place in the T20I squad.

The right-handed batter performed relatively well in the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand. Wyatt scored 84 runs in 3 innings and was the 3rd-highest run-getter. She will be playing in her first ODI since February earlier this year.

Kate Cross and Lauren Winfield-Hill are two players who weren’t a part of the T20I squad against New Zealand but have made their way into the ODI scene. Cross took a five-wicket-haul in the 2nd ODI against India, which justifies her selection. Winfield-Hill has scored two half-centuries in her last five domestic T20 matches.

Charlie Dean was selected in the T20I squad against New Zealand but didn’t feature in a single game. She has now been included in the ODI contingent and could make her debut for England. The all-rounder has been impressive with both bat and ball recently.

Despite suffering an ankle-injury scare earlier this week, Anya Shrubsole has been named in the 15-strong squad. Maia Bouchier, who made her debut in the T20I series against NZ a few days ago, could not make the cut.

Heather Knight spoke about rotating the squad during the ODIs against the Kiwis. The skipper justified using players who don’t get many chances by saying that the home schedule has been pretty busy this year. The players need rest ahead of the Ashes down-under and the ICC Women’s World Cup.

England’s head coach Lisa Keightley also shed some light on the same subject.

“It’s a very busy schedule, and we’ll need to work hard throughout it to ensure players are in the best position to get through it, and it may well be that we need to manage the group in order to do that.”
