A Neymar-inspired win helped Brazil maintain their perfect start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. However, the PSG forward was displeased at the lack of respect towards him, days after he was criticized for supposedly being overweight.

On Thursday night, the Paris Saint-Germain forward scored a record-breaking goal for his national team against Peru in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Instead of celebrating his achievements, he criticized those who had disrespected him.

“Obviously, the team is the most important. I’m very happy to be the top scorer in the qualifiers, the most assists for the national team and soon, if all goes well, it will be an honor to pass Pele as the all-time top scorer,”

“I don’t know anymore what I have to do for people to respect me. This is normal, it’s been a long time. Reporters, commentators, others too.

“Sometimes I don’t even like to talk in interviews anymore, but at an important moment, I come to show up.

“I leave it to the guys to think a little bit.”

    he told TV Globo.

As Brazil cruised to a 2-0 win over Peru, Neymar became his country’s leading goalscorer in that stage of the competition. The forward scored his 12th goal during a qualification cycle, breaking the record previously held by Brazilian greats, such as Ronaldo and Zico.

The goal itself was the simplest of finishes from close range into an unguarded net after the ball had rebounded towards an unmarked Neymar following a good save from the goalkeeper.

The Brazilian scored in the 40th minute, compounding Brazil’s early lead. The PSG star was also instrumental in the opening goal, as he won the ball back high up the pitch before laying it on a plate for teammate Everton Ribeiro. A 2-0 win meant Brazil stayed perfect in their group, winning eight out of their eight matches so far.
