During his knock, Guyana Amazon Warriors batsman showed immense character as he kept losing his batting partners at regular intervals. For GAW, the win over St Lucia Kings means that three teams are tied on eight points.

GAW captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and soon began to regret his decision as they lost many early wickets. Chandrapaul Hemraj, who bagged a swashbuckling century a few days ago, was joined by Shimron Hetmyer and Shoaib Malik in the list of players who scored less than two runs.

King was the star of the evening in terms of batting. He scored 77 runs off 57 balls, including eight boundaries and two maximums. He oversaw five different batsmen being dismissed at the other end before himself perishing in the 18th over.

22-year-old Jeavor Royal (2 for 17) and Wahab Riaz (2 for 16) were the two prominent figures behind the flurry of wickets picked up in the powerplay phase. The target set to chase for the Kings was 152.

Gudakesh Motie picked up a few early wickets. He conceded just 12 runs and picked up two scalps which earned him the man of the match award. Roston Chase (40 off 33) and Tim David (47* off 42) formed an excellent partnership for the 4th wicket. They added up 75 runs together, but the stand was broken by Naveen ul-Haq, that too at a crucial stage of the match.

Odeon Smith picked up two more during the 19th over, which made it extremely hard for Tim David to finish the match on his own. Guyana Amazon Warriors won the game by 17 runs and moved up to 4th place on the table, albeit with a negative net run rate.

    Brief Scores

Guyana Amazon Warriors: 151/6 in 20 overs (King 77, Pooran 25; Riaz 2/16, Royal 2/17) defeated St Lucia Kings: 134/6 in 20 overs (David 47*, Chase 40; Motie 2/12, Smith 2/12)
