Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur saw their stock rise after the new ICC rankings were announced. Shakib Al Hasan’s position in the top is consolidated.

Jasprit Bumrah rose from the ninth position up to eight after his spell in the second innings earned rave reviews from fans and experts. Rohit Sharma, who has been named man of the match for his century in the 4th test match against England, retains his spot as India’s highest-ranked Test batsman.

Another Mumbaikar who had a match to remember was Shardul Thakur. He not only picked up three wickets but also racked up two half-centuries against his name. He rose significantly, from 56th to 49th among bowlers and 138th to 79th among batsmen.

On the back of his 82-run knock, England’s Ollie Pope also saw a rise in his rankings and is now a part of the top 50 batters in the game’s longest format. Two England bowlers also climbed the rankings after their performances in the recently concluded test match. Ollie Robinson went from 36th to 33rd, and all-rounder Chris Woakes went from 26th to 23rd.

Elsewhere, Shakib Al Hasan’s performances against New Zealand saw his bowling ranking in T20Is go up. The Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder went from 12th place to 9th place courtesy of his four wickets in 3 matches.

Ireland’s Paul Stirling made strides in the T20I batting rankings. Stirling aggregated 234 runs in 5 T20Is against Zimbabwe, which included a century. He was ranked 23rd earlier but is now the 14th best batsman in T20Is.

Janneman Malan and Charith Asalanka are two players who are involved in the ongoing South Africa-Sri Lanka series, who saw a positive change in their rankings. Malan was awarded the 34th rank after he compiled 162 runs in 3 ODI matches in Sri Lanka.

Charith Asalanka, who was given the man of the series award for his performances against the Proteas, is now ranked 66th. It is a significant achievement for a player who has just played 8 ODIs in his fledgling career.
