Indian captain admitted that he is super proud of the effort that the entire team put in to get a result in India’s favour in the second Test match at Lord’s. Kohli also said said that they had the belief that they can bowl England out in 60 overs on the final day.

India recorded a famous win at Lord’s in the second Test match of this ongoing series (Pataudi Trophy) against England. It is just their third win in the history of Test cricket at Lord’s, and it came courtesy of a proper team effort. Almost everyone contributed and helped India go 1-0 up in the series.

The batting was excellent on the first day when it was quite a challenge. The ball was zipping around, and the top order batted superbly and set up the game under overcast conditions.

While England did take the lead and put India under pressure in the second innings, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah stood tall with the bat to bail India out of trouble.

“Super proud of the whole team. The way we stuck to our plans after being put in. Our performance with the bat was outstanding.

The pitch didn’t offer much in the first three days.

First day was the most challenging and after that, it was difficult for the bowlers to get anything from the track.

The way we played in the second innings after being put under pressure and Jasprit and Shami were outstanding,”

Kohli was quoted saying in the post-match presentation.

On day five, India declared with a lead of 271, and they had 60 overs to have a crack at the fragile England batting line-up. The pace attack was already fired up, and they came out all guns blazing and bowled England out in 51.5 overs.

Kohli acknowledged that they believed that they could knock over England inside those 60 overs. He also said that the constant chatter on the field and the sledging towards the end of India’s second innings also motivated them.

“We had the belief that we can get them (England) out in those 60 overs. I think the bowlers were just outstanding. And what happened in our second innings right at the end, with our bowlers, a bit of tension on the field that really helped us and really motivated us to finish this game,”

    Kohli added.

The teams move to Headingley, Leeds for the next Test match, which will start on August 25.
