Real Madrid will sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga in a permanent deal, reports claim. Los Blancos wrapped up the deal on the penultimate day of the transfer window, and an official announcement is expected to arrive on deadline day.

Real Madrid will complete the signing of Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, reports Fabrizio Romano. Los Blancos wrapped up the signing of the 18-year-old quickly after facing disappointment in their pursuit of his compatriot Kylian Mbappe.

Eduardo Camavinga can be considered a new Real Madrid player. Agreement completed since yesterday – he’s NOT staying at Rennes on loan as Ancelotti wants Camavinga at Real Madrid immediatly. ⚪️🇫🇷 #DeadlineDay

Paperworks signed – today it’s contract and announcement time.

The 18-year-old will become the club’s second signing this summer after David Alaba – who joined earlier in the window on a free transfer.

Romano reports Real Madrid will pay Rennes 31 million euros to sign Camavinga permanently. The youngster was the subject of interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.

The Frenchman, who would’ve left Rennes for free next summer, will instead sign a five-year deal with Real Madrid in the coming hours, with medical tests already fulfilled.

Camavinga made his debut for Rennes aged just 16 years and four months – the youngest in the club’s history – in April 2019. He first announced himself to the world by starring against PSG in the first game of the 2020/21 league season, for which he won the man-of-the-match award.

He was called up to the national team in August 2020 and became the youngest player to do so in the last 90 years. The teenager made three appearances for France in 2020 and scored his first international goal.

One player who won’t be joining Real Madrid this summer is Kylian Mbappe. Los Blancos were keen on signing the Frenchman this window, so much so that they submitted three mega offers to PSG for his services – all of which were reportedly rejected. Their latest bid – which the Parisiens turned down – was in the region of 180 million euros, as reported by Sky Sports.

Real Madrid will turn their attention towards Mbappe in January 2022, barring any late twist on deadline day. The club will be able to sign him on a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer 2022 window, provided he doesn’t sign a renewal with PSG in the next months.
