India’s Jadeja undergoes knee scans after Day 2 against England

Spin bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had to be taken for scans on his knee as a precautionary measure at the end of the third Test match against England at Headingley in Leeds.

It is not yet clear which of Jadeja’s two knees the player underwent scans for, and the overall extent of the injury will also be known only in the next couple of days.

Jadeja himself confirmed the news of his visit to a nearby hospital in Leeds through an Instagram story post hours after the Test match got over with the caption: “not a good place to be at.”

India will hope that the injury is not too serious and Jadeja can take advantage of the full four-day break available to him before the next game at The Oval, beginning September 2.

The knee issue was picked up on Day 2 at Leeds, where Jadeja went off the field for a brief period after clutching his right leg for a bit. This was after he made a fielding effort near the boundary ropes. Thankfully for the visitors, he did come back on the field and even bowled a decent spell.

At the peak of his prowess as an all-round cricketer, the 32-year-old has already missed quite a few of India’s Test matches this year.

Jadeja was sidelined for a sustained period after receiving a blow to his thumb while facing a bouncer from Mitchell Starc in the New Year’s Test at Sydney.

After missing the entire England series in February-Match, the 32-year-old could also miss the next match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Brisbane.
