Ligue 1 runners-up are highly likely to let Kylian Mbappe go to Real Madrid and are expected to turn their attention towards completing a sensational move for Erling Haaland afterwards.
News broke on Thursday night that Los Blancos have lodged a second bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s star forward Kylian Mbappe. The bid was said to be 170 million euros plus 10 million in add-ons, bringing the total close to the 180 million that the Parisians themselves paid to AS Monaco in 2017. Marca reports that PSG are poised to accept that offer and that the signing of Mbappe is imminent.
PSG’s sporting director Leonardo claimed in a recent interview that the club wouldn’t stand in the Frenchman’s way, should he wish to leave. However, he also stated that any transfer would have to be on the terms of the Parisiens while implying that the club had rejected Real’s first bid.
Marca also states that an official announcement regarding the transfer could arrive later on Friday.
The 22-year-old would then travel to the Spanish capital to complete his medical tests and be unveiled to the Santiago Bernabeu crowd before linking up with his international teammates for the upcoming break.
As per The Telegraph, PSG will turn their attention towards Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland to replace the outgoing Mbappe in the final days of the transfer window. Dortmund has previously reiterated that their star forward is not on the market this year amid earlier interest from Chelsea.
PSG have completed several high-profile deals already in the window. The Parisiens signed Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos on free transfers from Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.
The club struck similar deals for Gianluigi Donnarumma (Milan) and Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool) while paying Inter Milan heavily for the services of Achraf Hakimi. Signing Haaland would complete a remarkable window for PSG, although the Norwegian wonder kid is expected to cost them more than 150 million euros.
