Los Blancos have had a €160 million bid for Kylian Mbappe rejected by Paris Saint-Germain, claim several reports. The Spanish club is expected to return for the Frenchman, who has one year remaining on his current deal.

The French international is yet to renew his deal with the Parisians despite the club’s continuous attempts to re-sign him. PSG have spent heavily on wages and bonuses this summer, despite not paying much in transfer fees.

The French giants have brought in Achraf Hakimi for 60 million euros while Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Lionel Messi have joined as free agents. They hope that Mbappe spearheads the new project, but the forward is yet to commit his future to the club.

Amid PSG’s attempts to renew Mbappe’s contract, Real have attempted to price him away from the French capital by submitting a club-record bid. However, reports claim that that has been rejected for now.

While it is widely rumored that Mbappe wants to play for Los Blancos, PSG don’t want to sell their prized asset – reports French journalist Julien Laurens.

PSG don’t want to sell Kylian Mbappé this summer. They have rejected Real Madrid’s 160m euros offer for him today. Will Real come back with a higher offer? PSG say they would reject it too. But would they really?

Should Real sign the 22-year-old permanently, he would instantly become their most expensive arrival ever, surpassing what the club paid for Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale (both €100 million initially).

Los Blancos have curbed their spending in recent years while selling some high-profile assets such as Raphael Varane. The purchase of Mbappe would signal a return to the ‘Galacticos’ policy, which they have been known for since the turn of the century.

Mbappe, meanwhile, would definitely fall under the ‘Galactico’ moniker, given his status in world football as one of the best players around. The Frenchman has scored 133 goals in 174 appearances for PSG, won the league three times, and the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
