The Sri Lankans are yet to get clearance for their participation in the upcoming second half of the IPL. The duo will need to apply for their NOCs, and the Sri Lanka Cricket is yet to come to a decision.

Royal Challengers Bangalore announced big changes ahead of the start of the UEA leg of the Indian Premier League. With Adam Zampa, Daniel Sams and Kane Richardson unavailable, they roped in the services of Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera and Tim David.

However, there might be a small hiccup for the duo as they have not been cleared to feature in the tournament by the Sri Lanka Cricket. SLC’s secretary Mohan de Silva confirmed the same and said that the board is not aware of the signing, and the cricketers haven’t asked for their permission either.

“I don’t know, I have to check. We are under lockdown till the end of the month. We have not taken any decision yet as they will have to apply for the NOCs. We are not aware of these players being selected, neither have they sought permission from us,”

Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Mohan de Silva was quoted saying to Cricbuzz.

Both Hasaranga and Chameera were very impressive in the series against India in July earlier this year. Hasaranga took seven wickets in the T20I series and was the player of the series. He had also taken three wickets in the second ODI. After a quiet start in the first couple of T20Is, Chameera was consistent as well. He took four wickets in the T20Is and bowled economically.

Sri Lanka’s next international assignment is against South Africa, just before the IPL. The Proteas will play three ODIs and as many T20Is in Sri Lanka from 2nd to 14th of September. It is understood that SLC wants to keep all their players fresh and fit ahead of the T20 World Cup, and they are also planning to play a few games in Oman.
