Solskjaer responds to Klopp’s comments on United’s summer spending

There seems to be no end to the transfer expenditure debate, which Liverpool manager sparked in August. Recently in a press conference, the German coach explained why Liverpool are not as active in the transfer market as three of England’s other elite teams.

Klopp talked about the Manchester clubs and Chelsea, all of whom have spent heavily this season. Chelsea have signed Romelu Lukaku for £97.5 million, while City have inked English star Jack Grealish for £100 million.

United, in turn, have spent £107 million on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Speaking on Liverpool’s relatively lukewarm transfer activities, Klopp said:

“What United are doing, I don’t know how they did it. We have our own way to do it. We are allowed to spend the money we earn, that we always did. This year we spent before we earned money with Konate because after last season, just to be clear, we cannot take any risk in this position at all.”

Pep Guardiola responded to that comment by claiming that his team are always following the Financial Fair Play guidelines, and if anyone thinks otherwise, they can raise the issue in court.

Now, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also hit back at the German.

“We are a well run club. We do have a lot of fans out there and we do have good sponsorship deals. As a manager you want more and more money to spend – but I have heard ‘no’ a few times,”

“How other clubs run their clubs is up to them. There are different models at different clubs. I have even started buying electric cars. That is all I want to say about that situation.” the 48-year-old further went on to add.

the Norwegian manager said, as per quotes on Liverpool Echo.

While Liverpool fans might ask for a few new faces, it does not seem necessary, given how good the Reds are playing currently.

They have won their first two matches of the ongoing Premier League season, scoring five goals in the process, while conceding none – 3-0 against Norwich City and 2-0 against Burnley.
