Southern Brave have signed Quinton de Kock and Devon Conway as replacements after the Australian duo of David Warner and Marcus Stoinis pulled out of the inaugural edition of The Hundred.

The Hundred – a new 100-ball franchise cricket by ECB has garnered immense hype in world cricket. The board’s project is set to get underway in two months time, starting from July 21. The tournament has been able to attract plenty of white ball superstars around the world. However, the Australian duo of David Warner and Marcus Stoinis earlier announced their unavailability for the tournament.

Warner, one of the most destructive batters, and all-rounder Stoinis pulled out of the tournament due to a packed schedule and travel difficulties amidst Covid-19 pandemic.

Australian players David Warner and Marcus Stoinis, who have had to pull out due to conflicting schedules and travel challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

    the club released a statement.

Southern Brave were quick to announce the replacements with South African opener Quinton de Kock and New Zealand batter Devon Conway roped in.

While we are disappointed that David Warner and Marcus Stoinis will be unavailable for our men’s team, we are delighted to welcome both Devon and Quinton to the side. They’re both quality cricketers who add power and excitement up the top of the order for us.

said Giles White, Southern Brave General Manager.

De Kock has been one of the best wicket-keeper batters in world cricket and has done remarkably well for South Africa and his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. For South Africa, de Kock has scored 1303 runs averaging 31 and striking at 136.6. He has also scored 1187 runs for Mumbai Indians in the last three seasons at an average and strike rate of 34.9 and 133.7, respectively.

Devon Conway has had an incredible start to his international career in all three formats for New Zealand, including a double century on Test debut against England. The southpaw averages 59.1 in T20Is, 75 in ODIs and 63.2 in Tests in his short career. The addition of these two players will definitely strengthen Southern Brave in The Hundred.
