New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson has bagged a County deal with Surrey Cricket Club, where he’ll play seven T20 Blast games and two County Championship matches.

Surrey have secured a deal with New Zealand’s rising star Kyle Jamieson for the Vitality Blast and County Championship. Jamieson will join the team after the conclusion of the World Test Championship final against India, just in time for a Vitality Blast match against Middlesex on June 25.

Surrey lost their original overseas signing, Sean Abbott due to a hamstring injury he suffered in a club match last week. The West Indian Kemar Roach was also unavailable due to international duty. Surrey’s Director of Cricket, Alec Stewart has acted quickly to sign an impressive replacement in Jamieson.

Jamieson will be available for the rest of the Vitality Blast campaign. After which, he will play two County Championship games – against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl at the Ageas Bowl from July 4 and against Somerset at the Kia Oval in London from July 11.

I’m really excited to get the chance to play some county cricket after the Black Caps tour. Playing county cricket is something I’ve always wanted to do in my career, so to have the chance to do so now is awesome.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about county cricket, particularly T20 Blast nights at The Kia Oval, and can’t wait to take up the opportunity with Surrey to continue to learn and grow whilst trying my best to contribute to the teams’ success.

    Jamieson said.

Jamieson, who looked threatening in the drawn Test against England at the Lord’s, was rested for the second Test considering the World Test Championship final which starts on June 18.

The New Zealand all-rounder is a highly sought-after T20 player, having been picked for a massive price of INR 15 crore. He did a decent job for Royal Challengers Bangalore, picking 9 wickets in seven matches.

Jamieson has enjoyed a rapid rise in international cricket. The tall pacer has been terrific in Test cricket, picking 39 wickets in 14 innings at an astonishing average of 15.15. This will be Jamieson’s first experience in England domestic cricket.
