Guardiola refuses to comment on Kane’s future despite 100m transfer links

Manchester City boss has refused to comment on the striker’s future recently as Spurs forward gears up to face the Cityzens in the Premier League opener.

Kane clearly stated that he wants to win trophies, and with Spurs, he has not managed to achieve that feat. Therefore he has expressed his interest to move away in search of a challenge. The 28-year-old has a gentleman’s contract with club chairman Daniel Levy and feels that they will allow him to move away without much hassle.

BREAKING: Harry Kane has not shown up for Tottenham training. He was due to return to Hotspur Way this morning following a short holiday.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola expressed his interest to sign Harry Kane in a press conference last month. The Citizens were ready to make a £100 million bid for last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner.

Manchester City will be travelling to North London to face Tottenham for a Sunday fixture in the Premier League. It will add another dimension to the entire transfer saga.

After failing to arrive in the first two training sessions, Kane returned to HotspurWay for training and met new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. However, the Portuguese tactician is yet to comment on Kane’s availability for the Premier League opener.

Recently, Guardiola remained tight-lipped regarding Kane’s transfer situation:

“I answered this question at the previous press conference. He’s a player from Tottenham, I’m not going to talk about him. I made an exception last time. Usually, I don’t talk about transfers.”

When quizzed whether City can function without a proper striker or not, Guardiola replied:

“We played with recognised strikers with [Sergio] Aguero and Gabriel [Jesus]. Unfortunately, Aguero was injured, always when he was fit he was an important part of the team.

“He was a proper striker and Gabriel is a proper striker. Sometimes we play with a different approach, but the intention is the same to control the game and score as much as possible, with or without a striker.”

Recently, the Lillywhites have been linked with some players who can replace Kane at the club. Players like Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez was once linked with Spurs. They have also been linked with Barcelona’s Martin Braithwaite and Everton’s Dominic Calvert Lewin.

Spurs are under no pressure to sell their most prized possession as Kane’s current contract runs till the summer of 2024. He signed a six-year deal with Tottenham in 2018 and still has three more years remaining in his current contract.

Tottenham have already signed Argentine defender Christian Romero from Atalanta. The former Atalanta man recently guided Los Albiceleste to the Copa America title and have been one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe in the last couple of years.

The Lillywhites have also welcomed ex-Sevilla winger Bryan Gil and former Atalanta custodian Pierluigi Golini.

Manchester City, in turn, have also made big money transfer as they broke the British record of £100million to rope in former Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
