PSG transfer of Lionel Messi has ended any hope of Paul Pogba moving to the French capital this summer. According to Daily Mail, the Frenchman is expected to leave his current club Manchester United next season by running down his contract.

PSG would be required to make room for the Frenchman’s wages in their total bill, which would mean selling or loaning out several players. As such, the Parisians are content with waiting another year before approaching a World Cup winner again, when he will be out of contract.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer commented on the speculation surrounding the midfielder in a recent interview following their defeat against Queens Park Rangers in a pre-season friendly.

The Norwegian confirmed that the club wants to keep the Frenchman around and that negotiations between the two parties over a possible extension were underway.

“Paul knows what we feel about it and I’ve enjoyed my time working with him and hopefully we can work together. The talks are ongoing between Paul’s representatives and the club representatives. All the dialogue I’ve had with Paul is he’s looking forward to the season.”

    he stated.

Should Pogba fail to renew his contract with in the coming months, he will be eligible to talk to suitors starting January 2022.

Furthermore, if the 28-year-old leaves Old Trafford on the expiration of his contract in June 2022, it would be the second time that the club would have lost him for nothing.
