Lautaro ‘happy’ to stay at Inter amid Tottenham links

Spurs have emerged as a big favourite to land Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. They have reportedly agreed a £60 million transfer fee to land the forward in North London. With Harry Kane’s future at Spurs hanging in the balance, Tottenham are looking to tie down a big deal for Martinez.

The Argentine forward can be a perfect fit at Spurs, and their manager Nuno Espirito Santo will love to have some as destructive as the 23-year-old. But recently, his agent has made some remarks that may not be great for Spurs.

Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano told FCInter1908.it:

“Tottenham’s offer? Lautaro is an Inter player and is happy in Italy.

“A contract renewal? Lautaro will never enter into conflict with the club. Never. This is the reality.”

Harry Kane’s departure from North London is imminent, and therefore the club will have to replace the English skipper with someone they can trust mainly in terms of goalscoring. Reports in Goal.com have also claimed that Spurs had agreed a £60m fee for the Internazionale striker. But with Romelu Lukaku also moving to Chelsea from San Siro, chances of the Argentine also leaving the club looks bleak.

It will be a major disaster for the Nerazzurri to sell both their forwards in one transfer window. Inter Milan are evidently going through financial issues, and hence they have sold players like Achraf Hakimi and now Lukaku will also leave the club, and they have not replaced them with players of that quality. Hence, their chances to defend the Serie A title already look far-fetched. And if Martinez also leaves, then they will be extremely short on numbers and quality upfront.

It is unclear what the Inter board wants to do, but their tough financial situation leaves them helpless. But the fans are not ready to accept the way the club have reacted in this transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have already sold Hakimi and have also seen their title-winning coach Antonio Conte leave. With Lukaku also on his way out, the fans are very angry with the board. They are ready to stage protests and boycott matches if more players are sold.
