Bangladesh’s senior players Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim are under injury cloud ahead of the one-off Test match against Zimbabwe. Tamim, who suffered a knee injury is still in doubt, while Rahim’s fractured finger seems to have healed well and is likely to be available for the Test match.

Both the players couldn’t take part in the final round of the Dhaka Premier League T20 and were also rested from the two-day warm-up game against Zimbabwe Select XI.

Tamim did bat in the second innings of the game and scored 18 off 30 balls. However, he looked far from comfortable and struggled. The Bangladesh ODI and T20I skipper has been advised long rest by Australian David Young, but Tamim is trying his best to feature in the one-off Test and the three-match ODI series.

Meanwhile, Rahim’s finger has healed quite well and he is likely to be available for the one-off Test match. Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo was pretty confident about Rahim’s availability, but he mentioned that a call on Tamim will be taken closer to the Test match.

“Mushfiqur is pretty confident that he will be fit to play. He has done his rehab really well. Everything seems to be on track.

I am pretty confident that he will be playing. We are still not 100 per cent sure about Tamim.

There’s still a lot of doubt regarding him. I think a decision will be made in the near future,”

Domingo was quoted saying on Monday.

Bangladesh are scheduled to play just one Test match in Zimbabwe, which starts on July 7. After the conclusion of the one-off Test, Bangladesh play a 50-over warm-up fixture before the ODI series.

The three ODIs will take place on the 16th, 18th and 20th of July, while the three T20Is will be played on the 23rd, 25th and 27th of July. All games will be played at the Harare Sports Club.
