Ireland’s Paul Stirling is set to replace Devon Conway at Southern Brave in The Hundred after the New Zealander suffered a finger injury against London Spirit.

Conway, who had been in a tremendous run of form across formats this year, has been dealt with a setback during the ongoing The Hundred men’s competition. Conway, playing for Southern Brave, suffered a finger injury against London Spirit and will now be replaced by the Ireland batter Paul Stirling.

In the last game at Lord’s, Conway was struck on the fingers of his left hand by a Blake Cullen delivery early in his innings. He batted through the innings but did not take the field in the second innings. Conway, who was in outrageous form, did not have a great run in The Hundred as he only managed to score 97 runs in four matches at a moderate strike rate of 113.

Southern Brave roped in Paul Stirling on short notice. The destructive batter didn’t have a great series when South Africa visited Ireland for a white-ball series in July. SB are currently at the seventh position on the points table with two victories and two losses.

Meanwhile, Trent Rockets will have their original Pakistan recruit Wahab Riaz available for the rest of the tournament. This means the replacement player Marchant de Lange will have to leave The Hundred and return back to Somerset for the Royal London One-Day Cup.

De Lange was one of the stars of the tournament, picking eight wickets in four games. He was the joint top wicket-taker with Rashid Khan and Adil Rashid.

Trent Rockets, who are currently second on the table with these victories in four matches, will welcome their original overseas signing back. Earlier, Riaz had reached the UK but did not have a valid work permit on his visa, requiring him to fly back home, fix it and return to join the team. He has completed the mandatory quarantine and will be available to play against Welsh Fire on Friday.
