The second season of the league is due to be played in early January, likely from the 9th of the month until February 16. According to reports, Sri Lanka could be the front runner to host the six-team event, which sees legendary cricketers return to the cricket field for a social cause.

The first season was held in India in two parts owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. It kicked off in March 2020, and after the first four games, it was postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19 in India. The tournament was completed in March earlier this year.

Australia Legends, who were one of the earlier six teams, didn’t continue their participation and they were replaced by Bangladesh Legends. India Legends squared off against Sri Lanka Legends in the title clash, and the Sachin Tendulkar-led Indian side lifted the title of the inaugural edition.

According to reports, Sri Lanka could be one of the front runners to host the second edition of the Road Safety World Series. However, the venue is yet to be confirmed. South Africa and United Arab Emirates have also emerged as possible hosts. Hence, it remains to be seen which nation wins the hosting rights for the second season of the tournament.

A Sri Lankan journalist Danuska Aravinda broke the news on the announcement of the second edition of the Road Safety World Series.

“Discussions have been held in respective of Sri Lanka to be the host nation of the series. Failure to which the discussions may not go in favor of Sri Lanka, the organizers have decided that the series will be held in the UAE or South Africa,”
