Speculation over the Frenchman’s possible departure from Manchester has been a regular thing for the last few years. Yet the midfielder has remained at Old Trafford donning the red of United. The recent rumours were that Pogba and his representative have declined a solid offer from the Red Devil as he sees his future elsewhere.

With Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus interested, the speculations over Pogba’s future have gained a lot of traction in the last few days. However, all of that was rubbished by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjer who cleared the air regarding Pogba’s contract talks with the club.

The Norwegian, who opened up after the 2-4 loss against QPR in a pre-season friendly, said,

“The talks are ongoing between Paul’s representatives and the club’s representatives. All that I’ve ever heard with Paul is he’s looking forward to the season.”

Some of the abovementioned clubs are also plotting for a move next summer when he will be available for free. Therefore it is United’s call to keep him for another season or sell him in this transfer window as his contract talks are not coming to any fruition. The Red Devils are hell-bent on not allowing him to leave the club for free next summer.

While there are rumours of PSG Germain waiting to sign the 28-year-old, there are no concrete offers for the France international. Pogba wants to weigh all the avenues available to him before taking a final call, as it will mean a lot in his career.

The Norwegian tactician has clearly not given up hope on convincing the former Juventus man who was fantastic for Les Blues at the 2020 European Championships. Solskjer feels that there are a lot of unnecessary rumours regarding the Frenchman in the media, and he has acted in a very professional way each time. He also added how he enjoys working with Pogba and what the club feels with his presence.

“There’s always speculation about Paul, the talks between Paul and his representatives, I’m not in the details of every single one, I’ve got nothing to say really, about that, “

“Whenever he has been here, he has been so professional, he’s always ready to give everything for the team and that will be the case if Paul stays here, or he might stay for even longer. Paul is a very good player.

“We’ve seen Paul at his best, Paul knows what we feel about it and I’ve enjoyed my time working with him and hopefully we can continue working together.”

    Solskjaer added.

Despite Solskjer’s assure of contractual talks with Pogba and the management, Manchester United are still looking at multiple players who can fill in his void. The Red Devils have been linked with players like Eduardo Camavinga and are eager to rope in the Rennes teenager to replace the Frenchman.

The club are also keeping an eye on players like  Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka and Atletico Madrid outcast Saul Niguez. All of them are considered as Pogba’s replacement as the Red Devils are also keeping their options open for the future.

Apart from that, United are also linked with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane after he refused to sign a new contract. The current reports suggest that the deal could be completed in the next few days with the French defender already coming to terms with United.
