Rishabh Pant has successfully recovered from COVID-19 and has completed his mandatory period of isolation. He has joined the Indian team in Durham where they are playing a three-day warm-up fixture against County Select XI.

On July 8, the Delhi wicket-keeper batsman had tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Public Health England, his 10-day isolation period was set to come to an end on July 18.

However, he stayed back in London where he was quarantined and re-joined the team in Durham only on Thursday. BCCI’s official social media handled put out a picture of Pant and welcomed him back.

Just ahead of the Indian team’s camp at Durham and their three-day warm-up fixture against County Select XI, a few COVID-19 cases rocked them. Rishabh Pant testing positive was a big blow as he was their first-choice wicket-keeper.

Moreover, Wriddhiman Saha was also put in isolation as he was deemed as close contact to training assistant Dayanand Garani who also tested positive.

Hence, India didn’t have a full-time wicket-keeper for the warm-up game and KL Rahul had to don the gloves. India played out a draw against County Select XI. Now, they are scheduled to play an intra-squad warm-up game ahead of the first Test which is going to start on August 4 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
