Part delight, part disappointment awaits Tottenham Hotspur fans in the latest transfer roundup concerning their club. Spurs are expected to agree to a fee with Bologna for the transfer of Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu in the coming days. However, they could face failure in their pursuit of Jules Kounde, despite already agreeing on a fee with Sevilla.

The Athletic’s Spurs correspondent – Charlie Eccleshare – reports that an agreement could soon be reached with Bologna over the transfer of Tomiyasu. The 22-year-old defender is highly rated due to his versatility and two-footedness, along with his defensive ability. Manchester United, too, were said to be keeping tabs on Tomiyasu, who can play both as a centre-back and a right-back, but Tottenham are finalizing an agreement with Bologna, which would see them pay 15 million pounds plus add-ons.

Tomiyasu signed for Bologna from Sint-Truidense in 2019 and has since played over 60 games for the club. He made his international debut in 2018 and was a key part of the Japan squad that finished runners-up in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Despite the Tomiyasu deal edging closer, all is not gleeful for Spurs on the transfer front. Gianluca Di Marzio recently reported that the North London club has agreed a fee with Sevilla for Jules Kounde.

Spurs agreed to pay the Spanish club 30 million euros while also sending Davinson Sanchez to Seville as part of the total package. However, the Athletic has since claimed that the player is unlikely to join Tottenham due to the absence of Champions League football.

Kounde has had admirers in the Premier League over the last two years, with Manchester City nearly signing him before bringing in Ruben Dias instead. Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with the Frenchman in recent weeks. However, there have been no reports of an official offer from either club yet.
