AS Roma have completed their first signing of the Jose Mourinho era. Portuguese international, and a Premier League stalwart with Wolves, Rui Patricio arrives in Rome to take up the duties in between the sticks. Alex Telles, meanwhile, is a player Roma is targeting.

Roma have completed a deal to sign Patricio for an initial fee of 11.5 million euros – the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 33-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Serie A side and will wear the number 1 jersey.

“Roma is a big club and a new challenge and I’m excited to try and help the club achieve its targets,” Patricio told the Roma website.

“In José Mourinho, we are talking about one of the greatest coaches in the world and I am excited to start working with him and doing everything I can to help the team.”

    he said.

Meanwhile, Patricio is expected to be the first of many new signings Roma makes this summer. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Giallorossi are interested in signing Manchester United left-back Alex Telles, who has become a peripheral player in England after signing for the club last summer.

AS Roma are interested in Alex Telles as potential new left back. Roma want him on loan to replace Spinazzola, Manchester United have no intention to accept a loan as of today. 🔴🇵🇹 #ASRoma @DiMarzio

Deal now considered ‘complicated’ as of today – Roma will try in the next days.

Telles has fallen behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order at United. Meanwhile, there is a spot open for a full-back at Roma due to the long-term injury suffered by Leonardo Spinazzola during Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign. Spinazzola is expected to be out of action for at least six months, leaving Roma with only one option for the left-back slot – 19-year-old Riccardo Calafiori.
