The Italian, who was in the middle of a project at Everton, returned to Madrid and is said to be keen on reuniting with his former player.

Ancelotti has held talks with former Everton colleague Richarlison over a possible move to Madrid, reports Goal. The Brazilian attacker was key to Ancelotti’s plans and would often play in a front two alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He is currently in his native Brazil, competing in the Copa America 2021 with his national team.

The report states that Ancelotti and Richarlison were in direct contact recently, as a call between the two took place in the middle of the ongoing Copa America. Ancelotti is keen to bring Richarlison with him to Real, but Goal reports that the talks are still in the preliminary stages.

The Brazilian joined Everton from fellow Premier League outfit Watford back in summer 2018 for a fee of 35 million pounds, potentially rising to 50 million. Since then, the forward has played 119 times for the Toffees and scored 42 goals. During this period, Richarlison also earned his first call-up to the Brazil national team and subsequently won the 2019 Copa America.

He has been capped 31 times by the Selecao since and has scored 10 goals. He is currently competing in the 2021 edition of Copa America and is expected to lead the line against rivals Argentina in the final.

Real have been relatively quiet so far in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos signed David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, but that is that in terms of incomings – to date. Conversely, the Spanish giants are expected to incur heavy personnel losses in the market. Captain and long-time servant Sergio Ramos has already departed the club with stalwart Raphael Varane expected to follow in his footsteps. Ramos is nearing a move to Paris Saint-Germain while Varane is garnering attention from Manchester United.
