The Ranji Trophy, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, makes a comeback. The games are scheduled to be played between September 2021 and March 2022 across the men’s and women’s formats and different age groups.

The 2021-22 season is set to start on September 21 with the Senior Women’s One Day League. Meanwhile, for the men’s, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be the first competition of the season, and it will kick off on October 20, and the final will be played on November 12.

Four days after the final, the Ranji Trophy will start with 38 teams competing across four groups. It will be played across a three-month window, and it will finish on February 19, 2022.

The 50-over tournament, Vijay Hazare Trophy, will have been scheduled between February 23 and March 26 in 2022. As far as the women’s cricket is concerned, apart from the Senior Women’s One Day League, the senior women have the Challenger and T20 League scheduled as well.

The Under-19 and Under-23 tournaments for both men and women have also returned. The BCCI secretary Jay Shah is confident about the upcoming domestic season.

“The BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount,“

the BCCI secretary Jay Shah was quoted saying in a statement released by the BCCI.
