Guardian: United to complete Sancho deal; contract details surface

Manchester United are finally set to complete a deal for Jadon Sancho, one year after originally planned. The Red Devils are reportedly on the verge of agreeing to a deal with Borussia Dortmund, while personal terms with the player have already been agreed upon.

After suffering from a public humiliation in their pursuit of Sancho last summer, it seems United are finally set to get their man. An agreement is expected in due course between the Premier League club and Borussia Dortmund, with reports suggesting that the two clubs are not far apart in their respective valuations. Meanwhile, Sancho has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils; the deal’s details have since surfaced.

According to the Guardian, he is expected to sign a five-year contract with United, which will run until 2026. The Englishman will earn £350,000 per week at the club, which will make him the third-highest earner in the Premier League.

Presently, only David De Gea (£375,000 per week) and Kevin De Bruyne (£385,000) earn more than what Sancho is expected to earn. However, it is yet unknown whether the figure he earns will be with or without performance-related bonuses.

Four United players make up the list of the league’s top weekly earners presently. Joining De Gea in the top ten are Anthony Martial (£250,000), Edinson Cavani (£210,000), and Marcus Rashford (£200,000). Sancho’s arrival on the reported wage is expected to push his England teammate out of the list.

Sancho’s impending move to United is likely to affect rivals City. The Citizens are entitled to 15 per cent of what the Red Devils pay Dortmund, thanks to a sell-on clause included in the deal to sell Sancho to the German giants in the first place.

On the other hand, Dortmund are expected to earn ten times what they paid for the youngster back in 2017, when they signed him for £8 million. Sancho is currently on international duty with England but has largely sat out their Euro 2020 campaign.
