Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid dropped a bombshell on the footballing world late in the night of June 16, when they announced their mutual decision to part ways after 16 years. Ramos will deliver a press conference on June 17 and is expected to move to either Paris or London in the future.

Sevilla has previously been touted as a potential destination for Ramos. The Spaniard was born in Canas, a district in Seville, and came through the youth ranks at Sevilla before joining Real for €27m back in 2005.

However, a possible return to his boyhood club was immediately ruled out by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed that the defender is in talks with another club.

Sergio Ramos will NOT join Sevilla. It’s never been an option, they’re not interested in Ramos and the comeback is not even considered. He’s in talks with another club, not Sevilla. ⚪️🇪🇸 #Sevilla #Ramos #SergioRamos

Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest that Ramos will either go to Paris or London. Paris Saint-Germain could be an attractive proposition for the centre-back, while there are clubs in the Premier League who would want Ramos’ experience in their ranks. Although, there isn’t much clarity about where the Spaniard will end up eventually, at the moment.

Ramos signed for Real Madrid in 2005 from Sevilla and has gone on to make 671 appearances for them, winning four Champions League titles in the process. He has held the captain’s armband for Los Blancos since the departure of Iker Casillas. Ramos also captained his country recently and has accumulated a whopping 180 appearances for them.
