Spurs eyeing Conte for manager role and Paratici as director of football

Tottenham have approached Antonio Conte to take the vacant manager role at the club. Conte has previous experience in England, where he won the league with Chelsea and could be joined in North London by Fabio Paratici, Juventus’ former chief football officer.

Tottenham’s “let’s just appoint a former Chelsea manager” trilogy looks set to be complete, with the club in talks with Conte for the vacant role. Spurs have previously appointed Andre Villas-Boas and Jose Mourinho after they departed from rivals, Chelsea. Conte could join the pair in managing both the London clubs, with links to the Spurs’ job growing stronger. Rumours also suggest that he could be joined by Fabio Paratici – the man responsible for signing Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

    – Long term contract.
    – Project, salary, new signings.
    – Former Juventus Paratici as new director of football.
    – Official bid made to Paratici but he’ll decide soon.
    – Conte has never been close to join Real.

Several news outlets, including Sky Sports, have reported that Tottenham are indeed closing in on the pair of appointments. Conte is likely to join as the manager – should an agreement with Daniel Levy be reached – and could be joined by Paratici in the director of football role. There remains some distance between the two parties, however. As Sky reports, Conte’s wage demands could prove to be a hindrance in his potential appointment.

Tottenham have been without a manager since mid-April when the club decided to sack Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician had been in the job for a year-and-a-half, but with Spurs languishing in the Europa League places, a decision to remove him was made swiftly. Ryan Mason took the job on an interim basis until the end of the season, but Spurs still missed out on Champions League football.

At the same time, Conte was leading his Inter side towards the title in Italy. The Nerazzurri ultimately claimed the crown with games to spare but were left in shock by Conte’s decision to leave at the end of the season. Disagreements with the club hierarchy pushed the Italian out of the club and in search of a new job. Paratici, on the other hand, left Juventus at the end of the 2020/21 season upon the expiration of his contract. He could now join Conte in North London to form a dream team.
