The Rossoneri have begun reinforcing their team after they secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League 2021/22 on the dramatic final day of the Serie A season.

Italian giants are closing on the double-signing of Chelsea pair Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud. English defender has been in Milan since January 2021, where he has spent half a season on loan. French striker, meanwhile, is expected to leave London on contract expiry in the coming days. His current deal runs out in July, and there have been no talks regarding an extension.

Fabrizio Romano and Antonio Vitiello confirm that Milan are indeed very close to converting Tomori’s loan deal into a permanent transfer. The 23-year-old has impressed head coach Stefano Pioli so much during his short stint at the club that the Italian dropped captain Alessio Romagnoli to accommodate him into the team. Tomori formed an impressive partnership with Simon Kjaer in the centre of defence towards the end of the previous season and earned praise from Milanese greats – such as Paolo Maldini – regarding his performances.

Olivier Giroud is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and is close to agreeing a move to AC Milan.

Chelsea are also prepared to listen to offers for Tammy Abraham and Emerson Palmieri.

Several Italian reports and Sky Sports confirm that AC Milan is close to agreeing to a deal with Giroud. The 34-year-old joined Chelsea in January 2018 and has since won a UEFA Europa League and a UEFA Champions League. He was Chelsea’s top scorer in their Champions League-winning run this season, while he also scored one of the four goals in the Blues’ Europa League final win over his former club, Arsenal.

AC Milan have already confirmed the arrival of Mike Maignan from Lille. The goalkeeper will replace Milan’s golden boy, Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose departure was confirmed by technical director Maldini last month. Donnarumma will become a free agent on July 1, 2021, after he and the club could not agree to an extension.
