Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan may not receive an No-Objection Certificate for the upcoming 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League. The left-handed all-rounder signed up for the Jamaica Tallawahs for this season.

At the moment, the CPL 2021 is scheduled to kickstart on the 28th of August and finish on the 19th of September. However, Bangladesh are due to have a hectic home season at that time. They have already announced that they are planning to host Australia for a series of five T20Is, spanning eight or nine days in August.

This series will be followed by visits from New Zealand and England. Both teams are likely to play more T20Is in preparation for the T20 World Cup, which is set to take place in October-November later this year.

BCB’c cricket operation chairman Akram Khan has revealed that a decision on Shakib’s NOC hasn’t been taken yet. However, he did mention that they would want a full-strength Bangladesh side for their home season.

“We have not taken any decision about it (NOC for CPL). When the time comes we can take a decision in this regard. We certainly want to play against them with our full strength squad,”

he was quoted saying to Cricbuzz.

Moreover, according to Cricbuzz, it is learnt that there might be a new clause in the central contract for national cricketers. The players will may be given an option to announce their availability well in advance for various T20 franchise commitments.

This comes after Shakib missed Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka which comprised of a couple of Test matches in order to play the Indian Premier League. BCB president Nazmul Hasan feels that this clause will only help the selectors and the team management to avoid last-minute confusion and panic.
