Reflective of how Rishabh Pant has taken Test cricket by a storm, England left-arm pacer Tymal Mills said although he doesn’t “like watching” the traditional format, he immediately tunes in the moment the explosive Indian wicketkeeper-batsman walks in.

In between a difficult phase in the 2019-20 season where he lost his place facing question marks over his form and fitness, Pant has been excellent for India in Test match cricket. Pant hasn’t shelved his natural instincts in order to succeed at the Test level and has looked to play aggressively throughout.

Pant has now played 20 Tests for India with 1,358 runs at an average of 45.27, which is commendable for a designated wicketkeeper.

Mills heaped praise on Pant while speaking to Times Now News, hailing Pant’s exciting brand of cricket.

“I only play white-ball cricket, I don’t play four-day cricket due to injuries. In general, I don’t like watching traditional Test cricket but when Rishabh Pant comes to bat in a Test match, I am watching. It’s exciting isn’t it, its box office, it makes you want to watch the TV,”

    he said.

Pant batted tremendously on his comeback to the Test playing XI on the tour of Australia earlier in the year and produced two outstanding knocks in Sydney and Brisbane, with a short but extremely crucial cameo in Melbourne.

He continued his rich form when England visited India in February-March and batted commendably in Chennai and Ahmedabad. Pant proved pivotal to India’s quest to reach the final of the World Test Championship in the UK. Team India will be facing New Zealand in Southampton from June 18 to claim the ultimate glory.
