SRH skipper admitted that the Premier League cricketers were looked after really well in the first part of the tournament, but things escalated really quickly in India. He felt that after the breaches, the IPL couldn’t continue, and some right decisions were taken.
“Things escalated really quickly over in India and the challenges that way in that part of the world are heart-breaking to see.
We were very well looked after in the bubble for the first half of the tournament when things were still intact but clearly there were some breaches.
The tournament couldn’t continue and the right decisions were made, I believe that’s how things unfolded in the IPL. (It was) so tragic and obviously such challenging times for them as a country and bubble breach in cricketing circles and things happened quite quickly after that for us, I suppose,”
Williamson was quoted saying in a virtual press conference.
After the 14th season of the Indian T20 extravaganza was suspended, Williamson and the New Zealand contingent participating in the IPL who were a part of the Test team flew to the Maldives for a few days.
They then travelled to the United Kingdom and joined their New Zealand teammates for their upcoming tour of England, where they play two Test matches against the hosts and the World Test Championship final against India.
