BCCI identified suspected corruptors on two separate days at Ferozshah Kotla

BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit chief Shabir Hussein revealed that there were a couple of suspected corruptors that were identified on two separate days at the Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi during the 2021 season of the IPL. One of them was caught and was handed over to the Delhi police.

One of the games identified was the one between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which took place on May 2.

Shabir Hussein, who is the chief of the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit, confirmed the same. Two persons were identified with fake accreditations and were arrested by the Delhi police on the day of the RR-SRH game.

“One of my ACU officers caught a person and handed over the details to Delhi Police. While that particular offender managed to flee leaving behind his two mobile phones, ACU lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police,”

Hussein was quoted saying to PTI on Wednesday.

There was another incident in one of the previous matches at the same venue. The person in the garb of a cleaner fled after the ACU officials caught him having a telephone conversation. The Delhi police are tracking this particular man after the ACU managed to retrieve a couple of mobiles from him.

It was alleged that the man could well have been trying to engage in ‘pitch-siding’, which is the act of passing on the information from the ground to a remote location to convey the message and beat the delay in the TV feed.

“So, on two separate days, these people managed to get access to Kotla. The one who fled came in the garb of a cleaner. However, we have all his details as he was employed for the tournament. His Aadhar Card details have been handed over to Delhi Police. I am confident that he will be nabbed in a day or two,“

    Hussein further added.

The IPL 2021 was suspended indefinitely after 29 games were completed after a slew of coronavirus cases crept up in the various bio-bubbles of the teams.
