Lisa Sthalekar is infuriated by BCCI’s treatment of Veda Krishnamurthy. The Australian has said that the BCCI neither checked on Veda Krishnamurthy after the two tragedies in her family nor communicated with her regarding the decision to not consider her for the upcoming tour of England.

Sthalekar explained that Veda’s exclusion from the Indian women’s team “can be justified”, but what’s shocking is how the BCCI has not communicated with Veda at all to see how she is coping.

Earlier this month, the 28-year old India batter lost her elder sister Vatsala Shivakumar to Covid-19, two weeks after her mother succumbed to the disease.

Lisa Sthalekar, while expressing her anger, said there’s still time for the BCCI to fix it. She also pointed out the need for the players’ association in India, especially in these traumatic times.

Sthalekar’s tweet came amidst the controversy that has struck Indian women’s cricket. On May 13, the BCCI replaced WV Raman with Ramesh Powar as the head coach of the team. As per PTI, Raman has written a letter to the BCCI, urging to end the prima donna culture in the team.

Veda’s world was turned upside down in a span of weeks. She had taken to Twitter to reveal the tragic news on May 6.

“It is with great sadness that last night my family had to say goodbye to My Akka My family, my world has been rocked to its core. Appreciate all the messages and prayers. My thoughts with everyone going through these devastating times. Hold your loved ones tight and stay safe,”

     Veda had tweeted.

After losing two important people in her life, Veda Krishnamurthy had penned down her feelings in an open letter to her mother and sister. Veda also urged the people to follow the Covid rules and take necessary precautions.

Krishnamurthy has been amplifying the medical requests from people for Covid-19 for the past few weeks and she continues to do it even after the recent heartbreak of losing her sister.

The Indian selectors on Friday announced the India Women squads for the England tour, comprising one-off Test, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. Krishnamurthy did not find a mention in either team.

The flamboyant India batter has played 48 ODIs and 76 T20Is for India. Her most recent appearance in competitive cricket came for Karnataka during the inter-state Women’s Senior One Day Trophy quarter-finals in March. Krishnamurthy, who was part of the 2020 T20 World Cup squad, hasn’t played an international game since the WC final against Australia.
