Australian legend Michael Hussey will fly back to Australia after testing negative for COVID-19. Notably, Australia imposed a travel ban on people from India due to the monumental rise in the Covid-19 cases in the country in the past few months.

The Australian government and PM Scott Morrison were heavily criticized by the former players for the same, with Michael Slater calling him out publicly on Twitter for treating the nation’s citizens in such a horrendous manner. Due to the travel restrictions, around 40 Australians who were a part of the Indian Premier League were left stranded.

After the BCCI and IPL Governing Council decided to halt the league midway, the whole of Australia’s IPL contingent took the route of Maldives as a temporary post until the ban was lifted.

Informing about Hussey’s situation, CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan on Friday said,

“Hussey has returned with negative RT-PCR results and has recovered well. We haven’t yet decided when he is going to fly back and which route he will take; Maldives or Australia.”

Recently, even the Maldives imposed a travel ban across all South Asian nations due to the disastrous second wave of the pandemic, which means that Michael Hussey might have to stay in India if Australia extends the travel restrictions which are in place until 15th May.
