Spurs in no hurry to appoint new manager despite superstar links

Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag have been linked with the job, but chairman Daniel Levy appears to be in no rush to appoint the next coach just yet.

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to take their time to choose their new manager after Jose Mourinho was sacked after 16 months in chargel.

On April 19, Jose Mourinho was shown the door following a series of poor results and the club falling out of the top-six in the Premier League. Since then there has been heavy speculation over the Portuguese’s successor at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs have been linked with the likes of former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City, RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann and even Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

However, the Lillywhites’ hopes of appointing either of the latter two have been shattered, with Nagelsmann joining Bayern Munich next season as Hansi Flick’s replacement, while ten Hag recently signed a new contract with the Amsterdam club, keeping him at the Johan Cruyff Arena until June 2023.

As of now, caretaker manager Ryan Mason will probably be in charge of Spurs till the end of the season. The rookie coach will be looking to guide his team out of the seventh spot and confirm European football for next season in the upcoming last five games of the campaign.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Mourinho has claimed that he will “wait to be back in football” and that he enjoys his “normal life”.

    “I have no plans,”

“I am going on with my normal life. I feel fresh. I feel calm. I am on holiday.”

“I have more time to be doing my homework and analysis.

“I’ll wait to be back in football. Not just for the right club, but for the right culture. Maybe next season is premature, we will see.”

    said Mourinho.
