‘People will always remember Mr. 360,’ Sehwag shower praises on AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers never seizes to amaze. Once set, he makes even the best in business look foolish. Even legendary Indian opener and swashbuckling hitter Virender Sehwag praised the South African for his astonishing ability to score runs consistently despite being out of the game for a while.

Despite retiring from international cricket as many as three years ago, AB de Villiers hasn’t lost his touch even today. Year after year, AB has been the saviour for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Amidst all the speculations of his comeback into the international circuit, which could be in the series against West Indies before the ICC T20I World Cup, the ‘Sultan of Multan’ Virender Sehwag has showered praise on him for his incredible talent and ability to hit the ball.

De Villiers was completely away from all forms of cricket before he joined RCB for the 2021 edition of the IPL. Yet, he managed to find a form with ease and thrashed the best bowlers in the world on a consistent basis. Moreover, the stylish right-hander also scored runs at a brisk pace on the sluggish Chepauk track where almost every other batsman struggled to find the timing.

In seven matches, de Villiers made three half-centuries, scoring runs as consistently as ever. Praising the South African batsman, former India opener Virender Sehwag claimed that the ‘Mr. 360 degree’ tag fits the RCB veteran perfectly.

Sehwag said people may forget his real name, but will always remember Mr. 360 degree.

“I don’t think we need to give him any other name because how many can you even come up with. 360 degree is a good enough name. In the match against Delhi Capitals, when he left a few balls from Marcus Stoinis outside off-stump, he realised he left a wrong ball. Off the next ball, he went outside off, and even though he was expecting a similar delivery, it was a short-pitched ball and he hit a six,”

    Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

He further added that only de Villiers could have done that. The game Virender Sehwag was talking about was against the Delhi Capitals when AB de Villiers smashed a magnificent 75 off 42 balls and guided his team to a famous victory.
