The India national cricket team has seen significant changes recently, with new coaches replacing old ones. The new head coach Rahul Sharad Dravid promises to bring balance and herald a new era for the Indian cricket team.

It is widely known that cricket in India is at a phenomenal level. Even leaving out the men’s national team, there is the Indian women’s cricket team with a strong lineup, and the Indian Premier League is the strongest in the world. In addition to this, local players are considered to be the best of the best. One of them is Virat Kohli who retains the captaincy of the Indian national team. Kohli is one of the best India national cricket team players and batsmen of his era and possibly the best limited-overs batsman in history.

But it’s time to talk about the coaching staff. Let’s look at the new India national cricket team coaches for 2022.

    Head coach Rahul Sharad Dravid

Rahul Dravid returns to the dressing room as the head coach for team India, ushering in a new era. Dravid is one of India’s most incredible batters, and he started with a clean sweep over New Zealand, one of the strongest cricket teams in the world. After the heartbreak of the T20 World Cup, Dravid teamed up with newly-appointed coaching staff brought in to yield positive results.

Dravid’s impressive CV includes National Cricket Academy Head of Cricket and the Under-19 India and India A teams. He led the under-19 India national cricket team to a runner-up position at the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup and outright victory in the 2018 U-19 cricket World Cup.

    T. Dilip fielding batting coach

    T. Dilip is from Hyderabad and was initially part of the NCA accompanying the Indian team for a limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka. Although he didn’t play first-class cricket, the 39-year-old is a BCCI certified Level III coach who has worked with the Hyderabad Ranji team, India A, and junior teams for almost 15 years and is highly regarded in NCA circles. Hence, the BCCI chose T. Dilip over Abhay Sharma as part of the India A and India Under-19 setups.

    Batting coach Vikram Rathour

Vikram Rathour, who took over after the 2019 World Cup, will continue to be part of the Indian national team. India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour said the team has not yet decided whether it would be experimenting again in the T20I series against the West Indies by opening the batting with Rishabh Pant. Rathour is the only one who is not new among the current new crop of the coaching staff.

His international career didn’t last that long, however, he did manage to score plenty of runs in domestic circuits. As a player for Punjab, Rathour was a prolific run-scorer with over 11,000 runs to his credit in 146 First-class matches.

    Bowling coach Paras Mhambrey

As far as Mhambrey goes, his credentials are second to none, and he has worked closely alongside all the young bowlers during his time with India A and Under-19. Like Bharat Arun, Mhambrey also has a good understanding of India’s fast bowling pool and has even worked with the current lot at various times at the NCA.

Chambray is a renowned figure in the domestic circuit, with more than 280 first-class wickets and over 100 List A scalps. Dravid and Mhambrey have worked closely, whether with the Indian national team or U-19 side, and the players have progressed considerably under their tenure.

There’s no reason to expect an upheaval of the squad, and India’s current coaching staff are well-poised to take the national team to new heights!
