The Red Devils have reportedly rejected a bid from Galatasaray to sign Brazilian international Fred, who is nearing the end of his contract with the Premier League club. The midfielder has been eyeing a move away from the club, and has been courted by clubs from within the Premier League as well as overseas.
Galatasaray was believed to be one of the many clubs interested in acquiring the player’s services, but their offer of about £10 million has been rejected by the 20-time Premier League champions. United reportedly value the midfield man at around double that price, and are holding out for an improved offer.
The player has also attracted interest from Fulham, and that is also expected to be a move that the player would approve of. However, there is a reported disagreement between the clubs as to the transfer fee, stalling the deal.
Fred also has interest from the Saudi Arabia Pro League, with Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad both having contacted the player’s agents. Former United manager Jose Mourinho is also looking to bring the player to AS Roma, if reports are to be believed.
United’s quest for reinforcements continues as they look to fill the void left by David De Gea’s departure. The Red Devils have set their sights on Japanese shot-stopper Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds. With a desire to generate funds through player sales, United may part ways with a number of players, including the likes of Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial.
In their pursuit of squad strengthening, United is considering midfield options, including Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat. The Red Devils are also assessing other potential additions to bolster their midfield ranks.
Negotiations between United and Atalanta for the acquisition of striker Rasmus Hojlund are currently underway. Although a valuation gap exists, there remains optimism that an agreement can be reached. Encouraging signs from Hojlund’s camp indicate his eagerness to join Old Trafford, fueling hope of a potential deal materializing this summer.
However, conflicting reports also suggest that United will walk away from the Hojlund deal in favour of a move for France striker Randal Kolo Muani.
